Nicolet College Receives $30,000 for Culinary Arts Students from Kikkoman Foods

Category

In celebration of its 50-year anniversary in the United States, Kikkoman Foods, Inc. is awarding $5 million to students and programs in higher education. The company that started on a farm field in southern Wisconsin, is giving Nicolet College $30,000 to support students enrolled in its Culinary Arts program.

Each Nicolet College Culinary Arts program student is receiving approximately $1,500 for equipment to support student learning such as uniforms, shoes, knife kits, books, and thermometers.

One student exclaimed, "Thank you so much for your generosity; it is so greatly appreciated. The amount that this grant helps cannot be overstated; it really makes a huge difference."

This donation provides students with the freedom to focus on their education without the added stress of buying textbooks and equipment. Another student shared, "What is even more important is you give me self-confidence because it sends a clear message that you believe in me, you believe I have what it takes to succeed, you believe I have a future in culinary arts and you believe in our program at Nicolet College."

Nicolet College's Culinary Arts program offers students a comprehensive education in food production, service, menu planning, purchasing, cost control, and food service supervision. Taught by renowned chefs Vicki Mendham and Mitch Below, graduates are well-equipped for advanced positions in various culinary establishments, including restaurants, hotels, clubs, colleges, hospitals, and delis.

Additional awards are still available for students who will begin the Culinary Arts program in the Spring 2024 term, which starts on January 8th. If you are interested in enrolling in the Culinary Arts program at Nicolet College and taking advantage of the Kikkoman funds, applications are currently being accepted.
