Trigs, Rhinelander and other locations

Trig’s is offering an exciting internship providing an opportunity to learn about running a diverse, multi-location business. The internship will be customized to the individual student’s interests and background and could include experience in marketing, human resources, finance, merchandising, store operations, and data & analytics. It will involve a wide range of activities in multiple departments. 

Trig’s parent company, T A Solberg, operates a wide range of companies in addition to their grocery stores, including cosmetology, fitness, pharmacy, hardware, Trig’s Smokehouse and aviation. Opportunities in those areas are available, as well. For those interested in a more in-depth culinary experience, opportunities are available in Trig’s bakery, deli, meat and produce operations. Applications are now being accepted for the spring/summer 2023 terms.

Aqualand Alehouse, Boulder Junction

This contemporary brewpub is looking for people to help them grow, with opportunities for advancement. Their menu includes sandwiches, salads and brick-oven pizzas. They are also developing a new bakery. Primary opportunities include culinary and hospitality. Positions may include local housing as part of their package. This is a very entrepreneurial, growing company with other opportunities in the works.

Fun Factory Sweet Shoppe, Rhinelander

Local old-fashioned candy store has internships for a Retail Sales Associate/Supervisor/Manager, a production associate and a gelato catering position. All positions offer opportunities to greet and engage with customers, learn sales and customer service skills and candy/sweets/gelato manufacturing. This is a great opportunity for business and culinary students. Nicolet has had several successful internships at the Fun Factory in recent years.

Wisconsin Chevy Dealers, Wausau/Rhinelander Dealer Group

Social content marketing intern. Be part of an exciting internship program through real-world experience in automotive, creative, and social media. A Social Media Community Manager/Content Creator will provide support activities for the 14 central/northern Wisconsin Chevy dealers. They are seeking a student enrolled in digital marketing courses or someone with 1-2 years of social media experience. Duties include social posting and monitoring, shooting/editing/posting videos, attending events and social media reporting.  Must be experienced with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite-like software.  A detailed job description is available.

Nicolet College, IT Help Desk Intern

The Help Desk Intern is an integral part of the Information Technology team and is responsible for managing day-to-day technical support issues and requests. This position delivers exceptional customer service by applying customer service skills, technical knowledge, and professional judgment to Nicolet College students, faculty, and staff. This is an ongoing position and may be funded through work-study. It is open to all students, including those pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or Office Technology.

Nicolet College, Welcome Center Intern

The Welcome Center is the one-stop student service center at Nicolet College. They offer academic advising, admissions, counseling services, financial aid, transportation and disability support. The Welcome Center offers a part-time internship position for someone who appreciates helping others. Strong customer service skills are required. This is an ongoing position and may be funded through work-study. The Welcome Center has hosted several other successful Nicolet College interns.

Coontail, Boulder Junction

Coontail is a family-owned retailer with locations in Boulder Junction and Minocqua. They have highly-rated grocery, gift, clothing and sporting goods stores, along with sale and rental of outdoor adventure equipment including bikes, kayaks and paddle boards. Several internship opportunities are under discussion, and details should be available shortly for the spring/summer 2023 season. Two Nicolet College graduates are currently working at Coontail, having successfully completed their Business Management Internships. Simpson Electric, Lac du Flambeau

Simpson is a premier manufacturer of digital and analog panel meters, test instruments and equipment. They have a number of high school internship programs in place, and are working with Nicolet College to create new opportunities involving manufacturing, service, product development and administrative operations. Simpson has been an industry leader since 1927 and is owned by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Please contact Curt Drumm if you’re interested in learning more.

Fastenal, Rhinelander and worldwide

Fastenal is a Minnesota-based supplier of fasteners, tools and industrial supplies. They have over 2000 branches in the US, Canada, Mexico and Asia. Nicolet College is currently working with their Rhinelander store and regional/district managers to create an Internship program that could lead to full-time employment locally or at many of their locations. Careers may include sales, product development, manufacturing, customer relations, inventory, distribution and transportation, finance, marketing, administration and branch management
