WHAT TO DO WITH GRANDMA’S TREASURES
Tuesday, October 21
1 pm
Nicolet College, Northwoods Center 207-209
Instructor: Cathy Schmit
To toss or keep or sell? That is a question to be answered as we decide what to do with old treasures when we are downsizing or clearing out the house of a loved one. Are there valuable antiques in the mix? Presenter Cathy Schmit, using her self-taught skills and experience in the world of vintage, will guide participants through a simple process
of assessing antiques for what she calls “soft value.” Those attending are encouraged to bring one item with which to practice new skills in a group setting.
Cathy Schmit calls herself a “treasure hunter.” She is interested in “rescuing” antiques, a passion that stems from generations of people before her who saw the value in treasures. After years in education, Cathy shares her interest by teaching others about what is currently happening in the world of vintage and antique items. She has discovered that folks in their retirement years often find themselves with collections of things and are forced to ponder their value and future.
