Okay, so maybe you didn’t believe the story that dragonflies could sew the lips of noisy children together, but that did keep me wary of them as a child. So, what are dragonflies and damselflies really like? Is there a dragonfly that actually eats large butterflies? Wisconsin is a state that has a rich diversity of habitats that are beneficial to dragonflies and damselflies. This class will be your opportunity to learn about the many species of dragonflies that live in our state and their roles in their respective ecosystems.
Dan Jackson is past president of the Wisconsin Dragonfly Society and record reviewer for the Wisconsin Odonata Survey and for Wisconsin records entered into Odonata Central. Dan travels the state monitoring populations, studying species distribution, and providing detailed photographic records from his surveys. Education and public outreach are an important part of how Dan contributes to the preservation of these fascinating insects.
