Pandemic Portraits

Thumbnail

Brought to you by Nicolet College Arts as an opportunity to unleash your creative side. Pandemic Portraits is an art challenge, a visual art installation, a time capsule, and a way to express our own mental and emotional reaction to a very challenging time. You do not have to be an artist to participate in this challenge. The goal of this project is to collect creative impressions from the community as a response to the pandemic.

Who

You are the artist. Who or what you choose to create a portrait of in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is up to you.

What

You will be mailed a 4X6 postcard on which you are asked to create a portrait of this pandemic. How you chose to interpret that and what medium you choose is entirely up to you. Write it. Print it. Draw it. Collage it. Paint it. The opportunities are endless. If you are a performing artist you may put a link or QR code to a song or video that can be found online. If you are not an artist you may test that notion with this challenge. Upon completion of your art work simply place it in a mailbox addressed to: Art Gallery // PO Box 518 // Rhinelander, WI 54501

When

Artwork will be accepted on an ongoing basis. The show will be added to as work comes in creating its own viral impression on the walls of the Nicolet College Art Gallery until April 24, 2021. You will not receive your artwork back but it will be included in a time capsule to be sealed for 25 years at Nicolet College along with other objects representing our time.

Where

While the college campus is closed, watch Nicolet College Art Gallery’s Facebook page for submitted images and installation photographs.
