THE WHAT, WHY, AND HOW OF ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY
Wednesday, March 25
10:00 AM
Nicolet College, Northwoods Center 207-209
Instructor: Dr. Joel Furda
Hybrid: In-person and Zoom
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then how about a color video with select audio, and capabilities to precisely measure
the size and determine the shape of any chamber, valve, or attached blood vessel of our heart? If this sounds beyond amazing, don’t miss this class! Dr. Joel Furda will explain in ways we all can understand, how an echocardiogram works. Dr. Furda will teach us why a doctor might order this exam, what to expect if you’re the one having it, and what an echo, as they are called by cardiologists, can
demonstrate. You might even see an echo being performed on a real person in real time!
Dr. Joel Furda, MD, is a retired (sort of!) internal medicine specialist with nearly 50 years of experience in the medical field. He graduated from University of Iowa in 1974. He had a solo internal medicine practice on Frederick Street in Rhinelander for many years, then after additional cardiovascular training, affiliated with CardioVascular Associates and continued to serve patients in our community and region. He currently provides free cardiovascular consults through the Oneida County Public Health Department.
