Appreciation of the lakes we love is enriched by a basic understanding of lake science and aquatic life. Do you know the difference between a seepage lake and a perched lake? What are the trophic states and strata of lakes? What are the different lake zones called, and what lives and grows in each one? We’ll explore these and other “ABCs” of inland lakes during this presentation. We may even get a primer on how lake ice forms and melts and the effects those processes have on the lake itself.
Join Ted Rulseh, a freelance writer, author, and advocate for protecting and preserving our inland lakes. Ted grew up in the Lake Michigan community of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, where he developed a fascination with water resources. Family vacations in the Northwoods instilled a love for the abundance and diversity of Wisconsin’s lakes. For the past decade, he has devoted his time to helping others better understand and appreciate the lakes they love. He currently serves as president of the Oneida County Lakes and Rivers Association.
