Nicolet College to Honor Veterans Leading Up to Veteran’s Day Nov. 11

Category

Nicolet College is continuing its long-standing tradition of honoring those who have served in the military with several events and activities leading up to Veteran’s Day Friday, Nov. 11.

“Nicolet College serves military-connected students, whether they are a veteran themselves, a spouse, or a dependent. Though we appreciate their sacrifices all throughout the year, Veteran’s Day is our chance to recognize and honor our student veterans and families as well as others within our Nicolet community,” said Casey Lehmann, Nicolet Financial Aid advisor and school certifying official for VA Education Benefits.

Lehmann was in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, having joined in 1998. She served with the 724thEngineer Battalion in Iraq from 2003 to 2004.

Activities this year will include a panel discussion with Northwoods veterans from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in the Lakeside Center on the Nicolet campus. The focus of the discussion will be on veterans’ experiences serving in the military. A dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the first floor of the Lakeside Center with the discussion taking place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the second floor.

The public is invited to attend and can register for the free event at nicoletcollege.edu/tfaforms/f/VeteransDay or by visiting the Community Events page on the Nicolet College website at nicoletcollege.edu/community/community-events.

Individuals can also attend the discussion virtually on Microsoft Teams at nicoletcollege.edu/community/community-events

Other events include a Make a Thank-You Card activity from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, also in the Lakeside Center. All cards will be sent to deployed soldiers.

Individuals are also invited to submit a photo or brief thank you video honoring a veteran in general or someone they know. Submissions can be sent to nbaum@nicoletcollege.edu no later than Monday, Nov. 7.

The photos and videos will be posted to Nicolet social media platforms on Veteran’s Day.
