Nicolet College is proud to announce a new partnership with the Sokaogon Chippewa Community (SCC), and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards to create a new Broadband Service Technician Apprenticeship program.

This new program is a significant workforce development initiative designed to prepare skilled technicians for Wisconsin's rapidly expanding broadband infrastructure projects. The apprenticeship program supports statewide efforts to expand broadband access and aligns with the SCC's historic investment in the largest off-reservation tribally owned and operated broadband network in Wisconsin history.

“Nicolet College is thrilled to be a part of this partnership,” said Nicolet College Vice President of Academic Affairs Bobbi Fields. “This program was created as a direct response to the needs of our community, and we’re proud to be a part of the solution.”

To celebrate the partnership, Nicolet College is hosting a special signing event on October 7 in the Lakeside Center at Nicolet College, starting at 11:30 a.m. Along with the official signing, the event will feature keynote remarks from David Polk, Director of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards. Attendees will gain valuable insight into the future of apprenticeship, workforce development, and emerging apprenticeship opportunities across industry sectors.

The signing event is free, but registration is required. Register online at nicoletcollege.edu/RSVP.

The Broadband Service Technician Apprenticeship program will begin its first cohort in the Spring Term 2027.
