Contract

A full-time faculty contract is defined as 1,800 hours scheduled over 225 workdays.

The faculty calendar is established annually, in alignment with the academic calendar. Deviations from the standard calendar may occur to accommodate course scheduling and instructional needs.

A full-time faculty role includes instructional assignments and non-instructional duties.

Instructional-related assignments include course preparation, grading, program assessment/review, curriculum course design, curriculum updates, curriculum alignment with institutional outcomes, and Learning Management System (LMS) course maintenance.

Service to the College is defined within the faculty position description and employee handbook. Examples of Service to College are detailed below. Note, this list is not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Committee work, governance participation, accreditation activities
  • Student engagement, advising (in collaboration with Success Coach), mentoring, office hours, student support
  • Special projects, institutional events, grant work, community engagement, and other assigned duties

Standard contract faculty receive PTO in accordance with “Leave Benefits” detailed within the employee handbook (15 days)

Workload

The workload for a full-time faculty member is a portion of the faculty contract and is expressed as a percentage with a target range of 80-100%. Workload hours are based on the instructional time associated with each course, as documented in the institution’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, outlined in the WTCS Educational Services Manual (ESM), and further defined within associated procedures.

Instructional hours include instructional delivery across modalities, labs, clinical or practicum supervision, and other scheduled instructional activities. Instructional assignment release will be awarded to faculty serving in roles such as Practicum Coordinator, Program Administrator, and special assignments defined within the Workload Procedure.

Instructional-related assignments include, but are not limited to, course preparation, grading, program assessment/review, curriculum course design, curriculum updates, curriculum alignment with institutional outcomes, and Learning Management System (LMS) course maintenance.
