Category

Culinary Arts students at Nicolet College will hold a Bake Sale Tuesday, Feb. 21, with proceeds from the event going to the World Central Kitchen, which is currently providing aid in Ukraine and other parts of the world in need.

The Bake Sale will start at 10:30 a.m. in the Northwoods Center on campus and go until all items are sold out.

Tasty treats prepared by students and a few graduates of the program will include Ukrainian cheesecake tarts, Paczki, which is an Eastern European donut, chocolate chip cookie bars, Bundt cakes, a variety of cookies, along with other items.

The Bake Sale will coincide with the Ukrainian-themed lunch which is part of the Top of the Hill series of meals prepared by Culinary Arts students. Service tips offered and collected at the lunch will also be donated to the World Central Kitchen, which was founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés.

Since then the global non-profit has served more than 250 million meals to individuals struck by any number of disasters including war, hurricanes, floods, and other devastating events. A hallmark of the organization is rapid response and to get food to people in need as quickly as humanly possible.

Nicolet’s Culinary Arts program currently offers eight different college credentials, ranging from short-term certificates to two-year associate’s degrees.
