32nd Annual Northern National Art Competition
The NNAC is a cooperative venture of the Northern Arts Council and the Nicolet College Art Gallery.
Prizes and Awards
More than $8,500 will be awarded, including three $1,000 Awards of Excellence. Awards are based upon the actual artworks. Shipped work must arrive at the Nicolet Art Gallery by September 6 and remain for the entire exhibition. You may hand deliver entries on September 6 from 10 am – 4 pm. All proceeds of sales are assigned to the artist. Awards will be distributed after the close of the show.
Juror/Judge: Scott Stulen
Scott Stulen is the Director and President of Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Stulen is also an artist, writer, curator, programmer, and DJ. Previously he was the first Curator of Audience Experiences and Performance at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Director of the McKnight Artist Fellowship for Photographers, Project Director of mnartists.org at the Walker Art Center, and Associate Curator at the Rochester Art Center (MN). He has created and curated innovative exhibitions and programming including the ARTx program at the MA, first Internet Cat Video Festival (#catvidfest), Community Supported Art (CSA), Artist Designed Mini Golf, and the Walker Art Center’s Open Field initiative. He is currently leading the Philbrook Museum of Art, creating a model for the museum of the future through immersive and accessible experiences, relevant community engagement, and radical openness.
Additional Specifications and Guidelines
The competition is open to all artists 18 years or older who are US residents. Each artist may submit images of recent, original, 2D hangable artwork in any medium including photography, fiber, and mixed media. There is no theme. A non-refundable fee of $35 will entitle the artist to submit either one or two images – ONE image per artwork. Images must accurately represent the work entered.
Digital images must be jpg files, 300 dpi at approximately 4 x 6 inches. Files should be named with the following format: (Last name)_(First initial)_(Title)_(Entry #).jpg
DO NOT USE Kodak or Walmart, etc. 'Easy Share' files. Accepted images may be photographically reproduced for educational and publicity purposes.
Registration deadline: June 30
Optional hand delivery to Nicolet College Art Gallery:
10 am – 4 pm
Final due date for all accepted work
All shipped work must include a prepaid return label.
Opening reception at Nicolet College Art Gallery: 5 pm
Show closes. Work will be shipped back within ten days.
