COVID19 UPDATE #24

As upbeat stories on the early distribution of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine lead the newscasts, I’m feeling a cautious, yet oh-so-welcome, sense of relief. I hope you are too. A safe and effective vaccine is on the way and others are close behind. Though general distribution will take weeks or months, the end is in sight. At last.

In the meantime, despite the good news, diligence must remain the order of the day for a while longer. COVID numbers are currently trending stable to down, but disease activity remains “very high” or “critically high” across our district. Many experts anticipate that holiday gatherings will trigger another big wave of infections in early-mid January, a frightening prospect given the strain already on our health care system.

As has been the case throughout, Nicolet College is committed to doing what we can to minimize the COVID-19 threat to our community. With that in mind, Nicolet College buildings will be locked starting December 22 and will re-open on January 18 if conditions permit. Please be assured that College operations will continue as follows:

    • All student services appointments including admissions representatives, success coaches, advisors, and financial aid will take place via Microsoft Teams. Please continue to contact the Welcome Center to schedule appointments with student services.
    • Staff will be available to provide remote student services from 8 am – 4:30 pm on Monday – Friday with exceptions of the following campus closed dates: December 24, December 25, December 31 and January 1.
    • Contact the Welcome Center at 715-365-4493 ext. 0 or inquire@nicoletcollege.edu to access remote services.
    • Contact your advisor or your instructor for questions pertaining to specific classes.

I appreciate your cooperation and understanding, and most importantly I thank you for keeping yourself, your family, your friends, and your neighbors safe.

Richard
