COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions

Nicolet College is committed to doing our part to minimize the COVID-19 threat throughout our community while continuing to provide the best service that we can to you. To help with this effort, we have developed a list of frequently asked questions. We will do our best to keep the details updated as information and plans change quickly. Is the Nicolet College campus open?
All Nicolet College facilities will be closed to public access at noon (12:00 pm) on Friday, March 20. Buildings will be locked at that time and walk-up services will be unavailable until further notice. Please call 715.365.4493 with questions or email email@example.com. College personnel will be available to provide assistance Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Starting March 23 all student services appointments including admissions representatives, success coaches, advisors, and financial aid will take place via phone or BlueJeans online meeting system. Students with existing appointments will be contacted by the Welcome Center to receive information regarding this new meeting format. Please continue to contact the Welcome Center to schedule appointments with student services. Welcome Center hours are 8 am – 4:30 pm (Monday – Friday).
When will the welding/auto/cosmetology/nursing etc. labs be open?
All College buildings will be closed Friday, March 20 at noon until further notice.
Are classes cancelled?
No. Nicolet College classes, on campus and off, are temporarily suspended from Tuesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 22. This suspension will allow face to face instruction to be converted to alternate delivery modes (i.e. online, BlueJeans) wherever possible.
Instruction will resume on Monday, March 23 via online (or other distance technology) and will remain in this delivery mode until April 24, 2020. We recognize that not all instruction can be delivered online. Students should watch their College email for further information from their instructors specific to their individual classes.
Who should I contact with questions about my classes?
Students with questions specific to their classes or schedules may contact their instructors, an advisor or call/email as noted above.
Are all campus events cancelled?
Yes, all Nicolet College events, on campus and off, are cancelled or postponed until further notice. This includes Nicolet Live performances, Art Gallery exhibits, conferences, community events scheduled to be on campus etc.
Where is the best place to find updates about COVID-19?
Check your email regularly as services and schedules can change at any time. Regular updates will also be made to Nicolet’s COVID-19 website.
How do I receive text message updates from Nicolet College?
Students can opt-in to texting to receive updates from your success coach or advisor. Go to self-service to verify and add a mobile number if needed. After you’ve updated your information, go to the text opt-in form by clicking the link on the right hand side.
What is happening with the April 18, 2020 graduation?
The April 18 graduation ceremony is canceled. Students who were planning to walk in the Spring ceremony will be able to walk in our Summer ceremony on Wednesday, August 19 at 6 pm. If you planned to participate in the Spring ceremony, we have transferred your intent to participate to the Summer ceremony. If you no longer will be able to attend, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I get academic help with my classes?
Academic Success Center services will transition to remote delivery. To coordinate the delivery option that works best for you, please call 715.365.4455 or email email@example.com.
The following tutor labs will be available via Bluejeans 10 am - 2 pm on Monday and Thursdays:
NetTutor online tutoring is also available in Brightspace through your MyNicolet account. NetTutor is a third-party tutoring service that provides 24/7 help for many subjects.
Is the Library open?
Library services at our physical location will be suspended until further notice. The Library staff is available for chat/email hours starting March 23.

How do I buy or return books?

Will there be anyone available at the IT Help Desk?
Yes. IT Help Desk hours are 8 am – 4:30 pm (Monday – Thursday) and 8 am – 4 pm (Friday). Email email@example.com or call 715-365-4478.
I am a student employee. Can I still work?
Work Study employees remain eligible to continue working. Contact your supervisor to determine if work is available. If your work is limited due to COVID-19, there may be additional support available. For questions, contact the Financial Aid Manager, Patrick Burns, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 715-365-4904.
As a student employee, you may opt not to work. Student employees are required to take the same precautions as other employees. This includes proper hand washing, regular cleaning of your work area, and observing proper social distancing measures to safeguard yourself and the campus community.
Are there counseling resources for students?
Yes, students are able to receive up to 10 free counseling sessions through Transitions Counseling. As this may be a stressful time, we encourage you to connect with them if you need to talk. Transitions appointments are offered via telehealth video conferencing or phone. Please call 715-365-6696 to make an appointment.
Are there financial resources for students?
We understand that this may be a stressful time with rapidly changing conditions. We would like to remind you that emergency resources are available to help you with unexpected financial hardship such as unemployment and childcare. Please review the Emergency Resources handout with more information and reach out to your success coach or advisor for more information.
The Nicolet College Foundation offers financial assistance to Nicolet College students. If you need help, please ask an instructor to nominate you for a Juday Award, or start the process by clicking here to complete the application. How should I make payments or submit forms?
We encourage you to submit forms and payments online whenever possible. Information about online payments can be found here. Submit all forms electronically as much as possible. Emails for submission are listed on the forms.
What is the process for withdrawing from a class?
Faculty will be reaching out to you with the delivery plan for your specific course. We have extended the final date to withdraw from classes to one calendar week prior to the scheduled end date of the class. Your instructor will give you the specific withdrawal date for your class.
Is the Assessment Center open?
The Assessment Center is closed until further notice. Your instructor will provide more information about classroom testing that was previously taking place in the Assessment Center.
Will the Headmaster CNA testing still be conducted at Nicolet College?
The CNA testing that was scheduled on campus for March 21 and April 4 have been cancelled. Future tests are to be determined. Students should use the contact information they previously received to contact Headmaster for schedules the tests.
What about GED/HSED lab and testing?
The Assessment Center will be closed until further notice. GED/HSED instruction is available online and virtually starting Monday, March 23rd. Students can call 715-364-4455 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
What is happening with the emergency responder classes?
Face-to-face classes have been cancelled. Staff is attempting to offer the EMS Orientations and the first couple of weeks of EMR, EMT Part 1 via BlueJeans.
