Nicolet Welding students demonstrated their craft to the middle schoolers during the Heavy Metal Tour. “I always used to be afraid of welding with all of the sparks,” commented one 8th grade girl. “But now, after actually seeing someone weld, I think it is pretty cool and looks like  a lot of fun.”

Manufacturers participating in the Heavy Metal Tour include Advanced Barrier Extrusions ABX, Lake Shore Systems, Northstar Steel, Ponsse, Printpack, Superior Diesel, all of Rhinelander; Daigle Brothers and Samuel Pressure Vessel Group, both of Tomahawk, and Nimsgern Steel Corp. in Minocqua.
