The Boots on the Ground theater company will perform at Nicolet College Nov. 14, presenting its adaptation of See Me for Who I Am, a book on soldiers’ experiences in war edited by Rhinelander native David Chrisinger.

Featuring professional actors and student veterans, the theatrical presentation will bring to the stage several stories from the book compiled by Chrisinger, who will introduce the theater troupe.

The free event will start at 12:45 p.m. in the Nicolet College Theatre.

Seeking to “illuminate the harsh realities of war, homecomings, and the void between military and civilian life,” the presentation “plunges headfirst into breaking down stereotypes and celebrating the power of sharing your story during times of transition,” according to the theater company based in South Carolina.

The event will also feature a visual art display and short presentations by military veterans attending Nicolet, area resident veterans, and family members who support and sacrifice alongside loved ones serving their country.

“It’s intended for all people and all voices as a way to show appreciation and respect for everyone who has served our country in the military,” said Nicolet English Instructor Gary Zarda, who is helping coordinate the performance.

A question and answer session with the audience will follow the stage performance.

The Nicolet College Theatre is located in the Lakeside Center on the Rhinelander campus, one mile south of the city just off of Hwy. G.
