Nicolet Players rehearse for Outside MullingarApril 5, 2016
The cast for the Nicolet Players upcoming production of Outside Mullingar are in the midst of rehearsals, learning lines and perfecting character nuances as they prepare for public performances in early May.
Actors in this romantic, off-kilter comedy include, from left to right, Lisa Johnson, Anna Schwartz, Dan Brekke, all from Rhinelander, and Mark Batell, Hazelhurst.
Set in rural Ireland, the play tells the tale of the neighboring Muldoon and Reilly families who are in a hot dispute over a sliver of land that has their very farms hanging in the balance.
The two rival heirs, Rosemary and Anthony, are each filled with enough anger, yearning, and willfulness to keep them apart for years. What could possibly end the stalemate, save the farms, and - just maybe - let romance bloom?
Performances in the Nicolet College Theatre are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, and Thursday through Saturday, May 12 to 14. Sunday performances May 8 and 15 are at 2 p.m.
The play was written by John Patrick Shanley, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Doubt and the popular movie Moonstruck.
