College Goal Wisconsin Feb. 24 & 27 to help students complete financial aid forms
Feb. 17, 2016
Anyone planning to attend college next fall and looking for help filling out financial aid forms is invited to attend one of two upcoming College Goal Wisconsin events.
Sessions will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Lac du Flambeau Education Center and again at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Nicolet College Learning Resources Center on the college’s campus just south of Rhinelander.
Each session will offer tips on filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, more commonly known as FAFSA, and also give those attending the opportunity to fill out the online application right at the event.
“Earning a college degree is a great way to get ahead in life and, for many, receiving financial aid is the only way they are able to make college a reality,” said Jill Price, director of Financial Aid at Nicolet College.
She added that about 70 percent of the students attending Nicolet at least half-time receive some form of financial aid and approximately $4.9 millionwas distributed to qualified Nicolet students for the past academic year.
Applications are entered into a national database used by educational institutions to determine student eligibility and determine each individual student’s financial aid level.
Prospective students and their parents planning to complete the FAFSA form at an event will need to bring along completed income tax returns for 2015, W-2 statements, any other 2015 income or benefit information, a driver’s license if the applicant has one, and asset information. Dependent students should bring at least one parent to the event. Participants will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win a scholarship.
