Business, IT Job Fair April 26 at Nicolet

April 7, 2016

Northwoods employers looking to hire individuals with Business or Information Technology skills will be on hand for a job fair at Nicolet College from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, in the University Transfer Center.

“This will be a great opportunity for anyone looking to start a career or advance their position in either of these fields,” said Nicolet Career Coach Erika Warning. “Representatives from more than a dozen businesses will be on hand to meet one-on-one with individuals.”

Information will also be available on how to get the training necessary at Nicolet to start careers in Business and Information Technology.

The latest Graduate Employment Report shows that 2014 Nicolet Business Management graduates had a median annual wage of $37,210 six months after graduation. IT-Computer Support graduates had a median wage of $38,350 and IT-Web Software Developer graduates a median wage of $35,000.

The college will also have information available on training programs it offers to teach people the skills they need to secure these well-paying positions. Credentials range from short-term training certificates that take a year or less to earn on up through two-year associate degrees.

“It’s becoming common for people to earn a short-term training certificate, find a job working in the field, and continue taking classes to earn a more advanced credential,” Warning explained. “Along the way they earn money, gain valuable work experience, and increase their income as they advance their skills.”
