Aug. 9, 2016
Arts Day is coming to Nicolet College Saturday, Sept. 24 to celebrate the opening of the college’s new Art Gallery with the event featuring numerous creative workshops and the opening reception for the Northern National Art Competition in the evening.
“The arts are a mainstay for many in the Northwoods, adding to our overall quality of life and providing an avenue for creative expression,” said Nicolet College Art Gallery Director Katy Ralph. “Arts Day will be a great way for people to advance that tradition and also help us commemorate the opening of Nicolet’s new Art Gallery in the Northwoods Center.”
Full- or half-day workshops will include Photography, Painting, Theater and Acting, Improv, Writing, Drawing, Culinary Arts, Native American Flute Playing, Mindfulness, and Reprogramming Your Brain.
Cost is $79 for one full-day workshop or two half-day sessions. Some classes may require an additional supply fee.
Arts Day will start with an optional Wake Up Yoga Session from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.; continental breakfast and welcome from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.; morning arts session from 9 a.m. to noon; lunch from noon to 1 p.m.; and conclude with the afternoon arts session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
All events will take place in the Northwoods Center on the Nicolet Campus.
Those who register for Arts Day will receive $5 off the $20 ticket for that evening’s opening reception of the Northern National Art Competition, which will also take place in the Northwoods Center.
The reception will include hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and the judge’s presentation about the juried exhibit.
