Explore the Northwoods, learn new skills in Outdoor Adventure Series classes
June 26, 2015
While summer is now in full swing it won’t be that way forever and anyone looking to get their fill of warm-weather fun is invited to check out the many events remaining in Nicolet College’s Outdoor Adventure Series.
“We have nearly 20 courses running in July through September for people to learn new outdoor skills, sharpen current ones, and visit some of the most scenic places in the Upper Midwest,” said Jodi Fox Engleman, Nicolet Community Education specialist.
Upcoming offerings include several sea kayak trips to the Apostle Islands and Pictured Rocks national lakeshores; canoe and kayak trips on the Manitowish, Prairie, and Tomahawk rivers; and the Willow and Rainbow flowages.
Other adventures include hiking the Star Lake area of Vilas County, exploring Bayfield County, and learning how to fly cast.
What many people like about Outdoor Adventure Series courses is that they are all led by one or more experienced instructors, Fox Engleman added.
“This guided aspect of these adventures gives students a comfort level they may not otherwise have, especially when it comes to exploring new places,” she said.
