Entries sought for Northern National Art Competition
April 10, 2015
Artists from throughout the Northwoods and across the country are invited to submit original pieces for the 28th Annual Northern National Art Competition at Nicolet College.
The juried competition, sponsored by the college and the Northern Arts Council, features more than $8,500 in prize money, raised through generous donations from community members and entry fees. Prizes include three $1,000 Awards of Excellence.
“This is one of the premiere art exhibits in the Northwoods and over the years it’s been exciting to see works from area artists accepted into the show alongside the work of professional artists from coast to coast,” said Katy Ralph, Nicolet College Art Gallery director.
Submitted pieces can be in any medium, but they must be original, recently completed, and designed to hang on a wall.
Entry fee is $30 for two images. The deadline to submit entries is May 9.
The opening reception for the exhibit will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 18, in the Nicolet College Art Gallery, located in the Learning Resources Center.
The exhibit will run through Sept. 11.
The judge for this year’s exhibit will be Robert Kanyusik, a long-time Nicolet art instructor who has exhibited work across the country and internationally. He co-founded the Northern National Art Competition in 1988 and created the Nicolet College Art Gallery, where the exhibit will be held.
