Business career info sessions June 30 in Tomahawk, July 9 in Minocqua

June 26, 2015

Anyone looking to start a career in business or advance in their current position is invited to learn how to do exactly that at upcoming information sessions sponsored by Nicolet College.

“We’ve seen continued growth and demand across the Northwoods for people with strong business skills,” said Nicolet Dean of Business Chuck Komp.

Business Instructor David Phillips is also in regular contact with employers.

“If there’s one complaint we sometimes get from people out in the field it’s that we can’t supply enough graduates,” Phillips said. “They have jobs and they are looking to hire our graduates.”

Information sessions in Tomahawk will be held Tuesday, June 30, at 1:30 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. at the Tomahawk Community Bank Community Room.

In Minocqua, information sessions will be held Thursday, July 9, at 1:30 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. at Nicolet’s Lakeland Center.

This fall Nicolet will offer 15 classes in Tomahawk in Business along with others in Information Technology and general education classes.

In Minocqua, the college will offer 42 classes in Business, IT, Liberal Arts, and general education.

Many Business classes are offered in a flexible format so people can complete the work anytime that is right for them. Numerous courses are online and others in a hybrid format, which is part online and the rest face-to-face in the classroom. The college also offers numerous traditional, face-to-face Business classes.

Nicolet offers a dozen different credentials in the Business field. Many of the programs are structured so students can earn an industry-recognized credential in a year or less.

“What we find is that many students use their first credential to get a job in their field of study and also continue taking classes to earn an associate degree,” Komp explained.

Nicolet also has numerous credit transfer agreements with four-year campuses that create a smooth pathway for students to earn a bachelor’s degree.
