Explore the Northwoods, learn new skills in Nicolet College Outdoor Adventure classes
July 20, 2014
The Outdoor Adventure Series is in full swing at Nicolet College with many upcoming opportunities for individuals to explore new places and learn new outdoor skills.
Classes include many sea kayak and canoe outings to places such as the Upper Tomahawk River, Lake Superior’s Apostle Islands and sea caves, the Rainbow Flowage, the Bois Brule River, along with many others.
“There’s one or more instructors on every trip to lead the way, offer tips on technique, and let participants know what they need to do to stay safe on any given adventure,” said Jodi Fox Engleman, Nicolet Community Education specialist.
“There’s a comfort level for participants, especially when it comes to exploring new places, in having an experienced outdoor instructor on each adventure.”
Other more unique upcoming classes include the popular Ice Cream Float, the Sunset Paddle, birding during the annual hawk migration along Minnesota’s North Shore, wild rice gathering, fly fishing, and the Best of the Superior Hiking Trails.
All classes are ranked on a strenuosity scale, from one to four, Fox Engleman added.
“We want everyone to have a great time and this is one way to help people select the classes that match their abilities,” Fox Engleman added.
