April 14, 2014
Northwoods artists are invited to submit works for the 27th Annual Northern National Art Competition at Nicolet College.
The juried competition features $8,500 in prize money, including three $1,000 Awards of Excellence.
"This is one of the premiere art exhibits in the Northwoods and over the years it's been exciting to see works from area artists accepted into the show," said Katy Ralph, Nicolet College Art Gallery director.
Submitted pieces can be in any medium, but they must be original, recently completed, and designed to hang on a wall. Entry fee is $30 for two works of art. The deadline to submit works is May 10.
The opening reception for the exhibit will be held on July 22 in the Nicolet College Art Gallery. The exhibit will run through Sept. 22.
The judge for this year's event will be Linda Benedict-Jones from Carnegie Mellon University, where she is the curator of photography at Carnegie Museum of Art. She also teaches photography classes at Pittsburgh-based university.
