Nicolet’s new fast-track diploma classes start in January
Dec. 18, 2014
Nicolet College is offering a new selection of fast-track technical diplomas that will give students the skills necessary to enter the workforce in a year or less.
Classes begin Jan. 26 with the start of Spring Semester for diplomas in Business and Information Technology. Early Childhood Education classes start Jan. 10.
“The classes are structured in a flexible format that gives students the chance to earn a college credential while also meeting other obligations they may have,” said Chuck Komp, dean of Business and Instructional Effectiveness at Nicolet. “We also worked with area employers to determine the exact skills graduates will need to successfully enter the workforce.”
Options include Business and IT classes that meet early evenings or afternoons one day a week and online classes. The Early Childhood Education classes will meet on Saturdays.
Specific Business diplomas include Sales and Marketing, Supervision, Bookkeeping, and Receptionist. IT diplomas include Network Technician and User Support Technician. The Early Childhood Education credential is a Preschool Technical Diploma.
“What’s great about the technical diplomas is that students can use that credential as a stepping stone to a two-year associate degree if they desire,” Komp explained. “All of the credits earned for a diploma count towards an associate degree, which can open up even more job opportunities.”
Most of the Business diploma classes can also be taken in Tomahawk and Minocqua through the college’s next-generation telepresence distance learning technology.
