Auditions for On Golden Pond

The Nicolet Players will hold auditions for their upcoming production of On Golden Pond on Monday and Tuesday, September 15 and 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Nicolet College Theatre.

This heartwarming love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the 48th year, has been a favorite ever since its 1978 debut on Broadway and the Oscar winning film of 1981. Written by Ernest Thompson at the age of 28, the play is a masterpiece of sensitivity that explores the themes of marriage, memory, misunderstanding and rapprochement across generations, and the nature of mortality itself. As the summer wanes and time grows precious, the play reveals poignant lessons about life, love, and happiness.

There are a total of 6 roles: An elderly couple (the lead roles) their daughter and her boyfriend, a local mailman, and a boy who looks 13. Auditions are open to everyone and no preparation is necessary. Performances will be on the Nicolet stage the first two weekends of November.

Scripts (and more audition details) are available for a 3-day checkout from the Nicolet Library at the Rhinelander Campus. If you have questions about the play or the audition process, call Nicolet's Theatre Director, Jim Nuttall, at 365-4476.
