Adobe Photoshop CS4: Beginning I

Explore the basics of Adobe Photoshop CS4 beginning with an understanding of the progr am tools and features. Topics covered include photo editing and retouching, adding borders, backgrounds, and text, adjusting colors; use of layers and masks, creating special effects, and more.

This section is a continuation of Beginning Photoshop I and will explore the basics of Adobe Photoshop CS4. Topics covered in this course include typographic design, vector drawing techniques, advanced layering, color control, preparing files for the web, and more.

Dreamweaver

Create, organize, and maintain a website on your local computer, using Dreamweaver, a popular web-authoring progr am with powerful, easy-to-use visual layout tools. This software allows you to create and edit web pages without knowledge of HTML coding. Learn the basics of Dreamweaver to include developing a web page, working with text and graphics, and working with linked pages. Some design basics will be discussed using Photoshop. Prerequisites: This is an intermediate level course designed for students who are comfortable working in the Windows environment. Working knowledge of file management and web basics is also needed.

Dreamweaver (Beyond the Basics)

Continue to expand your skills in creating, designing, and managing a website, using Dreamweaver. Learn to work with tables, collect data with forms, use styles and style sheets, and position objects with layers. Some design basics will be included using Photoshop. Prerequisites: This is an intermediate level course designed for students who have completed the introductory Dreamweaver course or who have equivalent experience.

Take full advantage of the power and flexibility of Dreamweaver for creating, designing, maintaining, and managing websites. Learn to add multimedia elements, create and use templates, work with library items and snippets, and run reports for accuracy before publishing your website. Some design basics will be included using Photoshop. Prerequisites: This is an advanced level course designed for students who have completed the Dreamweaver Beyond the Basics course or who have equivalent experience.

Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization involves optimizing a website by improving internal and external aspects in order to increase the traffic the site receives from search engines. Participants will receive an overview of search engine optimization and how search engines work. Keyword searches, basics of writing good meta tags, the importance of link building, and how to optimize website content will also be covered.

Transitioning to Windows 7 – Tips, Techniques & Secrets Revealed

Take a detailed look at Microsoft’s newest Windows 7 operating system. Explore and learn how to use many of the new features found in Windows 7 as well as how to customize this new operating system to meet your needs and to obtain the best performance from your computer. While the class will be presented in a “hands-on” format, the current systems in Nicolet’s computer lab do not have Windows 7 installed. You are encouraged to bring your personal Windows 7 based notebooks, if you wish to participate during the in-class exercises. In-class participation is encouraged; however, the exercises will be available for take home for those without a notebook.
