Memories of Music in Cinema
The union of sound and film dates to the beginnings of cinema in the 1890s, and has ancient roots in the history of music and dramatic performance. Introduce yourself to the sights and sounds of the music and cinema relationship from its origins to the present. Think about the Imperial March from Star Wars, the famous two-note Jaws motif, the screeching violins in Psycho, and the exciting gallop of the Magnificent Seven! Explore the lives, times, and talents of several of the great cinema icons such as Max Steiner, John Williams, Danny Elfman, Howard Shore, and Ennio Moriccone. 60-805-62101

What defines a great composer? Is it someone who composes musical works that stand the tests of time? Or is it someone who produces works unlike what has preceded them? Presented in a style light on jargon and rich in listening, this course is for anyone interested in learning more about the major composers of "classical" music. Musicals, like jazz and rock and roll, are one of the most powerful influences on American music history. A camp just wouldn't be camp without an evening campfire, and a campfire just wouldn't be a campfire without singing. Some of our most enjoyable memories from camping are the songs and friendships shared around a campfire. Learn all about the history of campfire songs and gather around your first campfire of the summer and enjoy good company and excellent music.
