Advanced Technical Certificate

Information Security

40-150-1

Network security specialists may plan, coordinate, and implement an organization's information security. They may educate users on computer security, install security software, monitor a network for security breaches, respond to cyber attacks, and in some cases, gather data and evidence to help prosecute cyber crime. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of computer support specialists, including security specialists, is expected to increase faster than the average for all occupations through 2012 as organizations continue to integrate increasingly sophisticated technology.

Nicolet's Information Security Advanced Technical Certificate is designed for graduates of our Network Specialist Program or individuals already employed in the field. Classes are offered in the evenings and the certificate can be completed in two semesters, providing the prerequisites are met.

Our Advanced Technical Certificate provides an in-depth analysis of today's network security and the various security issues that businesses face every day. Students will monitor network traffic and gain hands-on experience to secure network operating systems, prevent an attack on a network, and detect and counter a cyber attack.
