Nicolet College Art Gallery is hosting an exhibit of nature photography by Tom Bredesen from Three Lakes. The show runs from October 24th - November 30th. Gallery hours are Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and during ‘Nicolet Live' Theatre events.

Tom Bredesen became interested in photography during the 20 years that he was a school principal. He began taking pictures of students for the media and this lead to further explorations in nature photography. Bredesen has taken photography courses at the Rhinelander School of the Arts, Nicolet College, and the Sandhill Wildlife Area during the fall crane migration. He is now on his fifth generation of digital cameras as that technology continues to make great strides.

This photo exhibit features over 150 pieces. One room is devoted entirely to birds, another room has some of the most unique ice images found anywhere, and the remaining area features an assortment of wildlife, flowers, and sunsets.

There will be a Reception on Wednesday, November 19th, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to join us for refreshments, meet the artist, and enjoy a lecture and slide show about The Remarkable Bird Life in Wisconsin by author John Bates.

John Bates is the author of seven books and a contributor to four others, all of which focus on the natural history of the Northwoods. His poetry has appeared in a number of journals. He's worked as a naturalist in Wisconsin's Northwoods for 19 years, leading an array of trips all designed to help people further understand the remarkable diversity and beauty of nature, and our place within it.
