Eco Home
Nicolet College will build a model Eco Home that creates a healthy atmosphere for families and promotes environmental sustainability.
The Eco Home will model sustainability (meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the health of the environment and the ability of future generations to meet their needs).
Integration of Renewable Energy into the Eco Home are:
- solar hot water
- solar thermal
- masonry fireplace
- photovoltaic laminate
The benefits of contributing will include:
- demonstrating your concern for the environment and generations to come by modeling a "healthy" home
- helping expand the market for sustainable homes (reducing our ecological footprint)
- educating students, trades people, contractors and the public about the benefits in sustainably designed and built homes
- Leave a Legacy Eco Home Partners can choose to contribute the following (tax deductible):
monetary contributions
labor
products and materials
The Eco Home will serve:
- as a living classroom for home construction professionals, architects, designers, students in the building trades and homeowners
- as a model and the curriculum developed can be replicated at the other Wisconsin Technical Colleges
- as a model to the Habitat for Humanity, public housing, tribal housing, and the modular and mobile home industry
- to help transform the home construction market
