Welcome to the 26th Annual Northern National Art Competition

A cooperative venture of the Northern Arts Council & the Nicolet Art Gallery.

Join artists from throughout the nation in this competition to celebrate creativity through a variety of mediums.

 

July 23 – September 6, 2013

Opening reception at the Nicolet College Art Gallery on July 23at 5 pm

More than $8,500 will be awarded.

Three $1,000 Awards of Excellence.

 

Juror/Judge

James R. Pace

James R. PaceJames R. Pace is a Professor of Visual Art at the University of Texas at Tyler where he has taught since 1985. He holds an MFA from Arizona State University and a BFA from the University of Oklahoma. Pace was appointed to the Oge Professorship in Visual Art and the White Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching, and received the Chancellor's Council Teaching Award. He was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and multiple university research grants. Pace trained in the Tamarind Summer Printmaking Program and participated in the International Artist Residency Program in Budapest, Hungary.

He continues to serve as a lecturer and visiting artist at museums, galleries, art centers, and universities throughout the United States, as well as in Germany and Japan.

Pace has exhibited his work nationally and internationally since 1976 and has received numerous awards for his paintings, drawings, prints, and mixed media work. His work is found in major collections worldwide.

May 11:   Deadline for mailing of entries. (postmarked)
Send images on a CD or by email. Send registration, acceptance card, and enrty fee* to:

June 27:   Acceptance notification.

July 12:   Final due date for all shipped accepted work. All shipped work must include a prepaid return label.

July 13:   Optional hand delivery to Nicolet Art Gallery: 10 am - 2 pm

July 23:   Opening Reception at Nicolet Art Gallery: 5 pm

September 6:   Show closes. Return shipping of work within ten days.

September 7:   Pick up hand-delivered work: 10 am - 2 pm
