Nicolet College DECA Club to Compete in International Career Development Conference

Following success at the State of Wisconsin’s DECA Career Development Conference earlier in March, the Nicolet Collegiate DECA Club will travel to Austin, Texas, to compete in the International Career Development Conference April 20-24.

At the state competition, Nicolet College students competed against over 160 students representing two- and four-year universities from across Wisconsin at Lake Lawn Resort in Delevan. Darci Joslin, John Krueger, Will MacKay, Gavin Hackbarth, Katelyn Abbott, and Natasha Wacker completed in Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics, and Event Planning events.

Krueger brought home first place in the Entrepreneurship category, marking the first gold medal for Nicolet College in any event. The team of Joslin and Krueger placed third in Business Ethics.

“I am incredibly proud of all the students and their ability to apply what they are learning at Nicolet College to real life case scenarios,” said Nicolet College DECA Advisor and Admissions Representative Dwight Webb.

Krueger said the experience at the state event provided both a platform for learning and an opportunity to develop team building. He said he is looking forward to bringing those lessons to the international stage in Austin, as well as the chance to exchange ideas with the global DECA community.

“The upcoming conference in Austin is an invaluable chance to test our skills against some of the brightest college minds nationally and to gain insights into the latest trends and innovations in our fields of interest,” Krueger said. “We hope to return with enhanced skills, broader perspectives, and renewed motivation to contribute meaningfully to our future professions and communities. We hope to make our college and community proud!”
